Reintroducing Doctor Grim

The ‘good’ doctor has been redesigned for 2012. This is still a talking cowlacious skull, with clay, latex and miscellaneous other bits and pieces

Audio is finished, so the jaw movement is based on a random song on a cheap mp3 player connected to the doctors head.

And a video demonstration

Here’s a before and after comparison of the prop

The Creature Redux

The Creature prop (aka Frank N. Stien) is getting a facelift (actually a headlift)

This will replace the 2009 model

Another Witch Update, Introducing the Sisters.

There has been another facelift on the 2012 Witch.I wasn’t happy with the colour or facial expression.

Now there are two witches in the coven

So any ideas on what the names of the sisters should be?

New Baby Sitter

We found a new baby sitter. Not sure how well she’ll work out.

You can never be confident when hiring the undead

Witches Brew

The 2012 witch revision is now mounted on the body and operational. Hair has been added and the hand color adjusted to match the face.

A short video

Witch Repair II

OK, call me crazy (it’s okay really, I probably am crazy), but I’ve redone the stirring witch face once again since Halloween 2011.

I liked the 2011 revision for about 30 minutes, so I went back to the drawing board for this face;

Name: 2nd Witch.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 73.4 KB

This is an improvement (I hope). It has a mean look, better color, more interesting. Black hair needs to be added still. The 2011 1st generation will become a sister, static witch, so no worries.

This is an old prop that has been refined through the years, here’s a brief history.

Name: Evolution.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 103.2 KB

2007-2009 was a Walmart mask, foam filled. The witch stirred, but the head didn’t turn.
2010 – 11 was a paper mache, model magic version, it was ok, but looked more like a old woman, rather than a classic witch.
2011 both versions are paper mache and model magic, the second iteration has air brush application.

Trash Can Trauma

This another revision of an old prop.

The Trash Can Trauma was the first LOH pneumatic prop and it’s undergone several revisions.

The problem is, the character inside never seemed right.

For 2012, the TCT character is aiming for a toxic, slimy, zombie-in-a-bucket look.

This is once again a paper mache base, with model magic clay for the face and hands.

Check put the prop section for the new video

Worm Food

Another early entry to the 2012 haunt.

This is ‘Worm Food’. It’s a thrashing ground breaking zombie. Probably destined for the graveyard as another moving piece.

Below are some pictures of the prop details. As before the head is a paper mache base, with clay features. The hands are wire frame, with bubble wrap to add bulk. some clay added for detail.

A wiper motor provides the movement. I think this prop is almost done and will sit and wait until October 2012.

The video of it moving is in the prop section.

Kreepy Kathy

This is a new prop for 2012.

Between November 1st & New Years is a good time to build some long development time props. Usually between Spring and Summer, it becomes very difficult to work on Halloween things.

This is ‘Kreepy Kathy’, its a take on the awesome retail prop of similar name (google ‘Creepy Cathy’ for a better idea). The ‘Donna the Dead’ prop is somewhat similar too.

The video of the movement is in the Prop section. The clothing choice is not final, I can’t find a old, creepy (and free) night gown anywhere.

Witch Repair

Halloween night, the usually trustworthy stirring witch stopped stirring.

Turns out the power supply partially melted.

Easy fix! New power supply.

But also, the witch got a new look, she now a mean green stirring machine.

Check it out;

The video is updated in the prop section as well.
